As with most Shinobi Clans, the Kurai Clan began as a simple mercenary group in the Land of Earth. Its warriors were polished into incredible fighters as a result of the times; one could say. They were exceptionally close descendants of Kaguya; taking upon the branch stemming from Asahi, ultimately making them descendants of the Uchiha Clan through an incredibly long lineage that cannot be traced. The powers of the Uchiha did not dwell within the descendants of the Kurai Clan; however, through the many years of combat and mutation they gained a new ocular power. When the Era of War began, the Explosion Release was founded. Members of the Kurai Clan became feared for their use of Explosions in combat. They were able to sabotage and wipe out entire Clans using explosions alone; which granted them a significant reputation for a time.

And so, the Clan thrived through the Era of War; however, times would eventually change, and even greater powers would come to oppress the Clan from its former glory. As original residents of the Land of Earth, the Clan migrated to Amegakure; traversing the ocean. Their encroachment and dominance as a mercenary Clan forced the other Clans which resided in Amegakure to seek help from the Senju Clan in secret. The Kurai Clan and the Senju Clan would have many bouts; that was until finally, the Kurai Clan was displaced and defeated. The remaining members of the Kurai Clan would admit defeat, and in exchange for their lives, formed a pact with the Senju Clan. This ensuring that the Kurai Clan would forever remain a coalition of Amegakure. The ancestors of the Kurai Clan were satisfied with this pact; their descendants, blinded from the truth by them.

As a show of good faith and loyalty towards Amegakure; which the Clan itself did not formally have a beef with, the Amegakure Blast Corps was founded. The Blast Corps, made up of mostly Kurai Clan members and other Explosive users, would go on to become one of the frontline forces of Amegakure’s Military. Once again, the Kurai Clan would be become famous amongst those in the Land of Rain, their fame and reputation progressively reaching out toward other Countries. Even today the Kurai Clan reigns as one of the most powerful Clans in existence; not to mention out of those within Amegakure.

With most Clans, you cannot mention said Clan without mentioning the most exceptional individual in the Clan’s History. Tsuragi Kurai, the most powerful leader in the Kurai Clan’s existence, was the most feared user of the Explosion Release Kekkei Genkai. It was said he fought toe to toe with the Ōtsutsuki, inflicting fatal injuries to many of its clan’s members. Tsuragi Kurai had a wife named Minako Kurai. Together they formed a pure blood lineage of three sons. Each of these three sons would marry and have children with three pure blooded Kurai Clan women. Their descendant’s children would come to form the generation which resides this day within Amegakure.

Special Info:

Personalities: The members of the Kurai Clan are in general harshly personified, in addition to an innate maniacal nature. This comes as a result of having the power to create such massive destruction with very little effort. Granted the abilities of this Clan, it isn’t a surprise to say they all revel in fits of chaos. They are a tough bunch to deal with no matter how you look at it. Most of them are completely ruthless, their emotions nulled to the point of non-existence, at least, this is how they used to be in the past. Time has come to soften the remaining members of the Kurai Clan; however you cannot put out a fire that has burned for centuries so easily. Later members of the Clan are much less barbaric than their ancestors, many of them being calm and intelligent, rather than boastful and outspoken. They still retain some characteristics of their ancestors but in a much more civil way than in the past. Members of the Kurai Clan are often dominant when it comes to speech, and are not afraid to speak their minds or tell other’s off. The last thing you want to do is anger a member of the Kurai Clan, because their anger has no bounds, and their innate genetic code will take over them.

Appearance: The Kurai Clan’s colors consist of Black and Sky blue. Instead of wearing the generic Iwagakure red and brown, they are often seen wearing a dark blue flak jacket, with sky blue clothes beneath, giving them the appearance of having come from the stars. Most of the Kurai Clan’s members are browned skinned, whilst some are much lighter skinned like most of Iwagakure folk. The males have strong dark, jet black or light grey hair, and the females have jet black or long light brown hair that drapes down their backs. Most of the males of the clan have subtle but apparent facial features, long side burns, and thin mustaches. Some may even sport some chin hair, but that is less often seen. The women of the Kurai Clan look like gorgeous African queens, so beautiful that most of them could be models or queens in reality. The males favor those from the Southern Water Tribe in the Avatar the Last Air bender Series.

Society: The Kurai Clan is a close knit Clan, even though some members like to branch out and live alone from a young age. There isn’t much parental guidance to be found in this Clan, the kids are able to roam around freely, but have severe repercussions for any wrong doing. The Fathers of the Kurai Clan are responsible for monitoring their child’s progression as a Shinobi, often teaching them about the history of their Clan and the greatness from which they are descended. They also teach their child how to use the Explosion Release from a young age as well as Earth Release Ninjutsu. The males are the alphas of the Clan, and must fight to protect their women. The females are the more submissive when compared to the male; however this does not mean they are weak and simple housewives. The females are in fact a force to be reckoned with, and generally grow up to become powerful Kunoichi. They are gifted with powerful medical Ninjutsu as well because accidents are a common occurrence for any new learner of the Explosion Release.

Government: The Clan is governed as a type of monarchy. Those with the main and most pure lineage decide the fate and decisions of the Clan. Those descending from the Kurai Clan’s most powerful leader in history, Tsuragi Kurai, are the current leaders of the Clan itself.

Description:

Explosion Release (爆遁, Bakuton) is an advanced chakra nature Kekkei Genkai. This chakra nature gives the wielder the ability to utilize explosive chakra. This allows them to cause explosions in objects and manipulate the properties of Explosions using their chakra.


An ability derived from the Kurai Clan’s Explosion Release; the Bakugan (Lit. Exploding Eye) Dojutsu is said to have come about from the Kurai Clan’s lineage to the Uchiha Clan as a completely unique mutation of the Sharingan. It touches but a minute fragment of the power of Asahi’s eyes, and is completely unique to the purest lineage of the Kurai Clan. Those being the only people in the clan’s history capable of using it. It is not so much ‘awakened’ as it is gained innately due to their ancestor’s genetics. The Bakugan and its evolved form, the Haruka Bakugan, affords the user greater power when applying Explosion Release; allowing them to mold explosive chakra for the range of their natural eyesight and convert visual information to information related to explosives. This occurs in stages of development.

Level One: The Bakugan gives its own unique colors to chakra, allowing the user to distinguish different chakra signatures, and changes in chakra to identify if one is under a Genjutsu. This also affords the user thermal vision. The range of Bakugan abilities at this level is 100 meters. Range can be increase via WC training of 500 Words per 100 meters OR bought with Ryo at 1000 Ryo per 100 meters. Max range is 1000 meters. Activation of this level requires 20 Chakra; and 10 Chakra upkeep per post used.

Level Two: The user is granted a higher understanding of the workings of Explosions in all forms or elements. The user can perceive anything which has the potential to cause combustion, or an overpressure shockwave. The user can understand the missing links toward a successful explosion. This allows for the user to generate explosions by using their surroundings and their own abilities as a catalyst to make them far more devastating. To the eyes of the user; objects of explosive potential are labeled in a tangled web of a puzzle, which the Dojutsu can rapidly solve, and place those materials together with the greatest explosive potential. The user can also identify how much exact power and range any potential explosion has by sight. This allowing them to set up the most appropriate defense possible against it as well. Explosions are perceived in slow-motion by the user’s eyes, boosting their reaction speed while dodging explosions by +500. This meaning, if the user of the Bakugan is fast enough, they can avoid almost any explosion due to this insight. The range of Bakugan abilities at this level is 500 meters. Range can be increase via WC training of 500 Words per 100 meters OR bought with Ryo at 1000 Ryo per 100 meters. Max range is 1000 meters. Activation of this level requires 30 Chakra; and 15 Chakra upkeep per post used.

Level One: At this level the user can constrict the pupils in their Bakugan to such a degree, it limits the amount of Chakra an opponent can influence their cerebral nervous system with, through visual trigger Genjutsu only. While in this constricted state the Bakugan can dismember all parts of an explosion into chakra and can absorb this chakra via the Bakugan. The chakra the user gains; is in proportion to the level of the explosion absorbed. This is determined by its range or the level of technique used to cause the explosion. This ability requires Chakra Absorption level three. Visual trigger Genjutsu Power is reduced by -400 to the user of this ability. The range of Bakugan abilities at this level is 500 meters. Range can be increase via WC training of 500 Words per 100 meters OR bought with Ryo at 1000 Ryo per 100 meters. Max range is 1000 meters. Activation of this level requires 60 Chakra + 30 Chakra (per Chakra Absorption rules); costing a total of 90 Chakra to activate. (The user cannot absorb their own Explosion Release Jutsu.);

Level Two: With simple and sustained eye contact, the user can knead their Explosion Release chakra into objects as far as the eye can see up to 500 meters. Earthen based substances are much easier for this ability to work on than living organisms. The amount of Explosion Release chakra placed in an object is determined by how long eye contact is sustained. If the eye contact is broken at any point, the user’s chakra is wasted, and the object will remain unaffected. Using this technique causes the eyes of the user to bleed due to the strain of performing such a feat, and the user’s pupils will dilate from their constricted state. The size of the object also determines how long eye contact needs to be sustained, and how much chakra is needed to cause the object to combust. Once an object has the appropriate amount of Explosion Release chakra kneaded into it; the user can cause it to explode at will Or with the Tiger seal. Chakra used per object depends on the object's size and if it is Organic or Inorganic material.

Explosive Range

For every 1 Post eye-contact is sustained, the range of the explosion increases by 5 meters to a maximum of 70 meters.

An offensive Taijutsu, which is used in conjunction with the Kurai Clan’s destructive Kekkei Genkai. With this combination, they can overwhelm most foes by forcing their opponents to dodge and evade the blows rather than blocking them, thus making hand-to-hand combat a near-impossible choice. After establishing direct contact with their opponent through simple physical contact, usually by punch or kick, the user utilizes Explosion Release to subsequently generate an enormous explosion from the opponent's insides. This explosion is powerful enough to completely obliterate an opponent far larger than the user. Due to the directionality of the blast, the user minimizes any potential repercussions, such as being struck by resultant debris and even recoil appears to be completely negated. Specific effects of this fighting style are on the technique basis.
