History

A clan of mysterious origins quite unrelated to the natural bloodlines and histories of the powerful players within the ninja world, the Serira are little known to the majority of people despite the clan’s ancient history. While technically a bloodline, the abilities may best be identified as an item or the inheritance of the will of the individual’s direct ancestors. Because of this, the ‘clan’ has no familial ties and does not function at all like a clan; rather, individuals simply arise from the deeds of their forbearers. While gifted with incredible powers by most measures, the large majority of ‘members’ rarely awaken any of them as, generally speaking, discovery of the gifts passed down requires a high degree of introspection.

The clan exists in the form of distinct spiritual relics generated by the loving kindness and intense compassion of their parents. Once again, this tends to preclude a life of war for the child, though combat is not entirely unheard of. Through a constant practice of meditation and a lifelong goal of enlightenment, members of the faith become extinguished, or still, while yet alive, ascending to the point of complete spiritual fulfillment. Common folk and devotees refer to these individuals by many titles, such as gurus and lamas, but in all cases these spiritually fulfilled people are immediately identified by the extreme force of their very existence and most believe that their enlightened state is such that mere physical interaction with them can begin one’s own path to fulfillment. To shinobi, this aspect is rather blandly referred to as “lifeforce.”

A union between individuals at this level of spiritual achievement is quite rare, though occasionally possible. For most people of this inheritance, simply one parent is enough to spawn them into the world and, generally speaking, it is unclear if people who arrive in the world of this clan are actually “born” in a traditional sense or if they are created by the good works of those who engender them. What is clear, lore wise, is that the passing of these great individuals leaves behind crystalized treasures representative of their goodwill and spiritual essence and these physical manifestations create people which ninja refer to as Serira. All clansmen possess the latent ability to use the mystical eyes, which forms the backbone of the clan, but additional specifics an manifest as personal mutations.

Special Info:

The Serira are blessed with a number of special abilities due to the uniqueness of their heritage, though the most notable and the most sought after are their special eyes, occasionally referred to in musty old texts as the “blood pearls of enlightenment.” These are the Kierugan. When not in use they have no particular appearance.

A special doujutsu technique created from the cremated bodies of an enlightened being, these eyes activate when exposed to a small amount of special chakra which the user’s brain makes, causing them to faintly glow red. While largely unknown in the world, the are said to rival the powers of the Three Great Doujutsu in scope and application, and predate not only the Ootsutsuki but also the Varian’s; they are thus divine treasures purely of the human race, expressed as the manifest will of perfect humanity. When in use, it grants the wielder uninhibited 360 degree vision, allowing him to see in a sphere around himself. Additionally, the eyes can visually represent any form of chakra and even see the life force of individuals, granting access to some unique applications of the eyes. Finally, those with these special visual powers are able to create “irresistible” genjutsu which can fool other non-Kierugan doujutsu and sensors type shinobi. Genjutsu cast by members ignore the bonus genjutsu points granted by other doujutsu and thus cannot be “seen through” by other doujutsu or sensory abilities (but can of course still be broken normally). Members uniquely have a third, functional optic nerve in their forehead, a depression of the skull, and an extra tenketsu point there as well, noticeable easily by Byakugan uses and proficient doctors who may examine them. It is thought that this 362nd point of chakra explains nearly all of the clan’s powers and expresses their uniquely enlightened state. Could hold one seeing eye.

The eyes are advanced via a level system for ease of comprehension. Do note that reactionary speeds do not stack and users gain one-hundred genjutsu points per level of the eye achieved.

Level 1:

The initial stage of the eye is but a fledgling, though still outfitted with high perceptual skills. Everyone starts with this level for free and can see all forms of chakra and use the clan’s unique genjutsu. Additionally, they can see for up to five-hundred meters around themselves, penetrative vision, in full color detail. By viewing themselves they may perceive a change in their own chakra, indicating entrapment in genjutsu. Gain fifty reactionary speed. Eyes can see through and break genjutsu of C rank and lower at this level.

Level 2:

The next stage of advancement, this increases the range of the eyes to fifteen-hundred meters and adds a component of telescopic/microscopic vision as well as heat-base and X-ray vision. Vision imparement such as flash bangs become much less effective for this and all further levels as redundant vision can take over if one is temporarily inhibited. They gain one-hundred reactionary speed. Eyes can see through and break genjutsu of B rank and lower at this level.

Level 3:

This midway mark of use marks a proficient user of the bloodline and one either on the path to enlightenment or full self-destruction. Users can now see in all previous forms of vision as well as all forms of electromagnetic radiation for twenty-five hundred meters and gains one-hundred and fifty reactionary speed. Eyes can see through and break genjutsu of A rank and lower at this level.

Level 4:

Commonly thought of as complete mastery, this is merely an illusion in which one traps themselves. Regardless, the visual prowess of the eyes are now exemplary, able to see in all forms of vision concurrently for five-thousand meters. They can now fully recognize and visualize lifeforce as well as chakra and previous modes of vision, allowing for insight into other’s intentions, the ability to identify bloodlines present, implants, and detecting lies. Users gain two-hundred reactionary speed when active. Eyes can see through and break genjutsu of S rank and lower at this level.

Level 5:

The true mark of stillness and inner peace, these eyes are the ultimate form of the basic doujutsu and grant immense visual prowess, allowing for concurrent use of all previous forms of vision. They can now see for six-thousand meters all around and gain two-hundred and fifty reactionary speed while active. It is said that these eyes are “perfect” and cannot be fooled by the illusions of the world, including those which are self-imposed. Essentially nothing is hidden from one of this level of vision and he or she can see spiritual entities, dimensional rifts, and otherwise hidden aspects such as the partially-present clones of Limbo. However, while they have extreme abilities of insight and knowledge acquisition, they can be taxing and pale in comparison to the mighty Byakugan, as they are unable to see the tenketsu system of a body even at this level of achievement. Eyes can see through and break genjutsu of SS rank and lower at this level. Can break through X rank by paying twice the cost of the original technique.

Final Regalia of the Buddah

This is the “ultimate manifestation of one’s own love” within the clan, recognized as an almost mythically powerful example of the powers afforded the bloodlines. As with the creation of a clansmen’s eyes, he, too, can become “extinguished while still alive” reaching a state of metta and becoming one with the flow of the universe. When this occurs, his own body becomes a relic akin to the eyes he inherited, like the still-living relics left behind by a saint or lama. His power increases immensely, though takes on very different forms from person to person and depending on which body part forms the living Sirara.

Once achieved, the user must create a specific set of abilities. There can be a mix of more generalized powers and specific ones, but in general should focus upon individual aspects as dictated by their transformed state and enhanced body parts. These blessed relics can have great variety, as one could have his bones sanctified, while another contains her advanced power within a finger. Thus, parts of the body can transcend or entire tissues can; it is up to the user and the nature of the individual and her path. However, a few aspects remain constant amongst these uniquely insightful individuals.

Requirements: This is triggered via self-realization and giving up on the weights of the world and becoming detached from material things. This can take a number of different forms of course, such as loving kindness or pure vipashyana practice, but is a difficult processes in any capacity. Typically this is begun, as with many great powers, via great sacrifice: death of loved ones, destruction of one’s home or family; etc. The range of experience can vary wildly from person to person and depending on the relationships that they have built, even so much as to include dramatic personal sacrifice on behalf of another. Alternatively, once can use the NPC information of MS.
