Appearance: Gyokusho is young genin who has not yet fully grown into his body. His skin is smooth and lightly tanned and he is still on short side compared to some of his classmates who have already found their growth spurt, though his angular jaw and increased muscle mass shows that he is quickly leaving adolescence and growing into manhood. His has a rowdy shock of vibrantly red hair which, if left to its own devices, hangs all around his face and shoulders, but which he usually styles into a spiky fashion and holds in place with a headband of some sort. For this. He prefers a simple white strip of cloth. Fitting with this he likes to wear more simple and muted clothing than big ostentatious shows of wealth. In his mind this is how a ninja should dress.

He has two very notable tattoos on his body those both. Being on his hands. On the back of his right hand is a pale tan colored tattoo of the head of a beautiful and regal lion and this. Extends slightly up to his forearm. This represents the hunter in him. On his opposite hand is a black in tattoo of the skull of ram with large horns that extend slightly on to the sides of his hands. This represents a respect for the prey. He is ambidextrous and. Sometimes he uses his own body as a canvas for his fuinjutsu for ease of transportation.

His eyes, like his Uzumaki hair, are red, but they are a lighter shade almost like a pink and he has fairly large eyes which take up a lot of his face. His teeth are not filed down like some ninja but they are much pointier and sharper than most normal peoples and it makes his smile look more predatorial than usual. He has thin lips and eyebrows, a normal sized mouth, a small but rounded nose. And a very deep voice like distant thunderbolt. He likes to wear rings, watches, and bracelets. He has a small piercing in the middle edge of his left ear.

Personality: Gyokusho is a pretty taciturn and quite person, though not a mute by any means. Don't get me wrong. He just does not tend to say anything unless something is required of him to say and he does not throw his words about carelessly. Because of this, he avoids flowery language when speaking and dislikes fake kindness or people who use too many words because it sounds like they are just trying to get something. He does talk though and can even be chatty at times, though in a stoic sort of way, and he has no problem voicing his opinions or taking charge of a situation. He can also be very stubborn and will stick with his assertions unless someone else can prove that another way is better or more efficient.

While he appears very gruff on the inside, he is not completely devoid of emotion. It just takes a very long time to earn his respect, but to him trust and respect are just about everything. He spent most of his life as part of a small crime syndicate (see history) and so most of his world revolves around prudent mistrust of people around him and it is hard to earn his favor. But. If someone does earn his favor he can be a powerful and steadfast companion. For people who do not fall into this elite category, he tends to feel very little and can easily view them as resources rather than individuals. This callous nature lends itself to a life of war under the ninja system.

His silence and direct manner of speech generally makes people think he is a little stupid or creepy. Or a little of both. But in reality he is actually a very clever and prudent young man. He is not political genius but his skills for planning and his versatility and flexibility in combat make him a formidable opponent. He likes to plan many steps ahead as well and allow his opponents to bring about their own downfall. He is roused to anger easily, but his is a cold anger, a silent fury, and it only spurs him to more specific and violent acts.

He also has a darker side to him, one of fear. Towards who he is. He was brought up in something resembling a small cult which worshiped the act of hunting and it was from this that he gained much of his combat knowledge prior to the academy. He can 'flip' into this hunter persona in times of stress or combat without even realizing it and the thrill of battle, the joy of the chase, consumes him. His elders assure him that he will learn balance, but for now the beast which loves blood and his own capacity for cruelty cause him some fear, though he loathes to admit this.

Character History: The young man grew up not in a family of ninja but a family of personal guards to a guild of assassins, of which his own Uzumaki parents were party. They dealt in minor crimes from intimidation to blackmailing, but their most important and lucrative export was that of the hunt, the seeking out and killing of specific targets. For many of their clients, these were undefended weaklings used to send messages that they were serious, or that they target family needed to move on and find business elsewhere. No one was rich in the communal lifestyle, but few wanted for much in the way of earthly good.

Gyokusho, from the moment he could walk, was taught to do so silently. He ate in radical silence, drank tea in radical silence, bathed in radical silence, and prayed in radical silence. He was never far from a family member and they would perform surprise mock attacks without warning, so one had to always be prepared. He was given a large set of skills, from sign language and other foreign languages, to strategy, art, literature, war, history, and everything in between. His family was skilled at seamlessly infiltrating inner circles to extract knowledge or commit secret murders and he was given the tools required to do this. He learned to hunt and kill, first game, but eventually people.

Due to his clan heritage on his mother's side, Uzumaki blood and powers ran powerfully in his veins and the reigning parties of Hanagakure ensure he enlisted for the military should they need him. While peace and property ruled the surface world, rumblings of war echoed across the land and, ultimately, he was drafted at 14. While he had no ninja skills or control of his chakra, his work in tracking and assassination proved an asset and he passed on his first attempt. He know lives in the barracks but does not partake in many missions as most of his classmates found his silence and skill deeply off putting. While they were there for fun, he had been removed from his home so that the village could benefit from his bloodline.
