Gift of the Nile

Post by Eververse on Sat Nov 04, 2017 12:39 pm

AND HE WAS GOD

The sky was calm, the wind was tame, and the birds sang in unison.

In the small village within the jungle, a seemingly perfect community was nestled within the barriers of this forest, and the synchronicity that existed between the clan members and the climate around them seemed to be something one could only dream of or see in a picture. A woman carrying freshly baked bread walked through the streets, behind her three other young women with towels and utensils. There were various small shops nestled throughout the forest where families created various tools for the community, and merchants supplied the village with their services in exchange for food, clothing, land or even money. Currency was less necessary in a place like this, where everyone was capable and willing to meet the needs of his fellow man simply because he was able. There were none homeless, none hungry, and none without fellowship. To say the everyone was “one big family” would be to perfectly describe the warm organism that was the Senju clan.

Outside of the jungle and forests were vast fields and plains where farming and large projects would be undertaken. The fields were where most of the homes were as well, there being a separation of workspace and living space in their culture. In the Senju clan the primary distinctions of work were the following: craftsmen, farmers, chefs, soldiers, fishermen, carpenters/architects, and those that did kingdom duties. Multiple families shared the same crafts of course, but the incentive to be competitive was nullified largely by the economic system enforced. The Senju were not capitalists within their own communities, though they had become quite wealthy over the past few decades by the selling of goods and foods to other clans. Among their own tribe, however, financial operations were quite different. The consensus was that all men should be provided for in their basic needs by the skills of his fellow man. Thus, the carpenters and architects built everyone homes, the farmers provided food for all, and each household was given their portion of weapons in order to defend themselves. There were special perks for the military, but for everyone else, there was a pre-decided basic standard of living that was provided for by all. After basic needs of the community were met, various guilds, and the families that were within them were paid a portion of the proceeds from sold goods that were produced by them. From these funds, buying and selling could occur among the Senju, and the concept of meritocracy and its implications on the wealth status of any given individual could be maintained.

The solidarity of such peace, unimaginable amongst a species of such self-interest. It was as if a spirit from on high had come down and rested itself upon these people, inflaming them with a passionate love for one another, and relinquishing all within them that might breed the hostility necessary to burn a kingdom down from the inside out. Like most things, the secret to the success of the Senju rested within the wisdom of the sovereign. For he alone knew the inner workings of his nation, and why it was that such prosperity had come to the Senju. Many knew that they were the descendants of the righteous Avalon, sage of the ages. Many also knew that from him they had inherited a great deal of wisdom and power both directly and indirectly. But wisdom fades, and power is relative; and all men die. So what was the secret to the lasting success and pre-eminence of this nomadic people?

Miles underneath the  great field where the majority of the farming took place, was a secret cavern. In that cavern was what could only be described as a cavern filled with large crystalline pillars that crossed in various ways, intertwining in a web of glittering crystal thorns that reached up unto just below the surface ground. Hidden within and below this maze of crystals was a shimmering orb. The orb was about ten meters long and wide, and hummed a strange tune that could be heard with more than simply the ears, but also the heart. The orb shown various lights at various times. One moment it would radiate orange, then blue, then green, then red, and there were even times where two colors at once would be manifest. Like a diadem passed on through various generations, this strange object had been passed on privately through the first born sons of the line of Avalon. To the sovereign and a few of his trusted advisors would this object be made known to, and the studies taken from past generations concerning it would be passed on to him to interpret. To find out the origin of the orb, to unlock all of its many powers and mysteries - that was the private obsession of the clan leader of the Senju, as it had been to his forebears. The crystals had come from the orb somehow, and served well to protect those who came near from its radiation. In times past, many a guard had contracted various side effects from the radiation of the orb, and many unexplainable events had happened amongst the Senju since placing the orb so close to the populace. It was in the past two generations that the orb or “Ark” had begun to be properly utilized. The Senju sovereign before the current had figured out a way to properly siphon the life-giving properties of the orb into the soil and to grow the crops of the Senju clan exponentially. This same magic had leaked into the water supply as well. Lastly, via the food and water - the Senju themselves had now been indirectly “feeding” on the orb. At first, the Elders were greatly worried of what would happen to the next generation if they grew up being intoxicated with the foreign energy, and how it would affect the animal and plant life that surrounded them. The consensus over the past seventy years was that in every single way imaginable, living things benefited from small doses of the orbs power. The mortality rate dropped to nearly zero of both man and beast. The fruits were greater in abundance, size, and nutritional value, enabling for an overall better fed populace. Disease in any form had not been seen in over fifty years for those who resided within the village, and life expectancy more than tripled since the orbs radiance had been leaked into the water supply. Furthermore, in the works the Senju clan leader was studying ways to use the orb’s power to gain a unique advantage for himself over his peers and his enemies. Immortality was not out of the question given what the sages had told him was possible with the orb’s demonstrated excellency; and the goal to reach the heights of prestige and power of his great grandfather Aldoron was within the heart of every descendant of the royal throne since the Great Sage himself.

AND HE WAS GOD

It shimmered and shimmered, this crystalline luminosity that dwelt deep beneath the surface. Its most radiant lights only visible to the naked eye at night, where they could be clearly seen as luminous waves rising up from the earth like colored smoke. The Senju clan were a blessed clan truly, for they had been the inheritors of some of the most powerful beings and artifacts this world had ever seen. The legacy is what the Sages knew was most important; and it was their job to ensure that the bloodline and history of the Senju was kept in-tact and fresh in the minds of its people. They were God's chosen people, after all. He had sent them an example of his favour to them by the arrival of the orb. It represented that rulership over this world and the various tribes of men was a birthright to the Senju.

Deep within the shimmering crystals was a body covered in unapproachable light. A light so dense that no dojutsu or chakra sensory could possibly pick up what was inside of the ether. There, naked and in the fetal position lay Mithrandir, the Morning Star. And as he lay, he dreamt of his days at another time, in another life, and on another world…

FLASHBACK

Arda.

The world of the Aesir, and they birthplace of all life in the Eververse. It teemed with the pinnacle of biological life, each form and figure unique in its own way and its own DNA. There were no two things exactly the same in all of Arda, and the landscape ensured that abundance was provided for all. At the top of the food chain were a race of beings known as the Aesir, Mithrandir’s race. They had been created as the most beautiful and powerful of beings and had natural rulership over all other beings in the world. The Sindarin, a dragon race, had been the first to rule the world of Arda, but had been banished by the Tree of Life for their corruption; thus were the Aesir created in their stead to rule and make all things perfect. Up above in the sky was not a star, but many stars. Stars of various colors and sizes dwelt all about Arda and gave their unique lights so that the atmosphere was rainbow in color and various parts of the world were single colors where the concentration of one light was greater.

The landscape of Arda was vast, and various creatures were given dominion over different kingdoms. In the North was Elysium, an elevated kingdom in the sky where the light from the stars was gathered in abundance and utilized by the Aesir for various purposes. Their cells fed on light, and most of their weapons were made of a mixture of metals and starlight. The Fairies, who were animal-hybrid creatures filled with light, dominated this kingdom. Elysium was also a place where the Seraphim would often descend from the heavens above to visit the Aesir and give them the oracles of Horakhty. The mother star, origin of all light, was known as Horakhty, also revered as a god by the Aesir. His messengers were angelic beings of light known as the Seraphim. They were wondrous creatures with great wisdom and song. They taught the Aesir music, in fact, and helped shape and create the world as well as the Aesir themselves. In the West was Zion, the holy capital of the Aesir, and their only city. Zion was a place filled with precious metals, crystals, and a centerpoint of the best technology that Elysium had. Elysium was in many ways a servant city to Zion, where the nicest and most pristine of the Aesir’s art and power was held. This is where the royalty of the Aesir found their dwelling, naturally, as well as the army and the royal guard.

In the South was Lemuria, a great oceanic kingdom that was ruled by a shark-like species known as Lemurians. The Lemurians had various streams that went out into every city and kingdom, and were the rulers of all the water in Arda. The Lemurians were around before the Aesir and thus maintained an attitude of pride towards their rule somewhat, though they were under divine decree to be submissive and thus showed no outward forms of rebellion. They were around when the world was first created, when the Sindarin ruled. The Lemurians were the race that fought them in the world’s first great war, in fact, and thus harboured a certain hesitancy towards the rulership of any powerful race; it was not in their nature to desire rulership, however.

In the East, finally, was Gan-Eden, the origin spot of all creation and where the Tree of Life was. Here is where the priesthood resided. A male and female of every species in the world was required to reside there at all times, and the most rare and powerful forms of plantlife were kept in Eden. The highest concentration of Zohar energy, energy from the star Horakhty, shown in Eden, and all beings were greater in power when there. The Tree of Life, another deity to the Aesir, enabled the Aesir to take of the fruit of the various trees around, giving them great power. The Tree of life they ate from also, giving them immortality; The Aesir did not die on Arda, nor were they afflicted by disease. They aged up until the prime of their years and no further. The tree of life would provide fruit enough for all to eat once a year, and there would be a sacred festival for the Aesir to take of this fruit once a cycle. However many, many years ago the tree did something the priest had prophesied it would do, but few understood. The tree gave birth to a large fruit, filled with Zohar light. When the priests opened the shell and subdued the light within, they saw in it an infant. The baby had eyes like Horakhty Himself, and radiated light. It was clearly an Aesir, but filled with power unfathomable. Some thought of it as a prophesied messiah, some a force of nature, some thought it was the child of Horakhty and the Tree of life, most were skeptical entirely. What was known, is that since the day of this child’s birth, the Tree never again gave forth its fruit. The Aesir maintained their immortality still, but were perplexed at this indeed. The child of course - was Mithrandir.

Mithrandir grew up in Eden, under the special protection of the priests who considered him a sacred instrument of power to serve them. Along with him were a small group of children known as the Children of the Grail, seven children taken from the Aesir who were considered by the priests to have an unusual connection with the tree of life and therefore be capable of repopulating other worlds or repopulating this one should the Aesir come to their doom. This small band of children, Mithrandir being one of them, grew up in Eden together as siblings and comrades kept from the rest of society.

Mithrandir reminisced his memories as a child as he stood within the temple. Cthulu, the Watchman of the Aesir, could see all of Arda at all times. Mithrandir would often go to his temple in order to see all that was going on and to admire the contents of the great world. He had just come from battle and this was typically the first place he would come to upon arrival.

He thanked Cthulu, as he always did, and politely walked down the steps to the entrance of the temple perched atop the great mountain. Outside, three hundred of his men awaited the return of their general in the valley below. Mithrandir returned below beside their side, and motioned for their glowing chariots to continue on forward across the rainbow bridge leading into Zion.

AND HE WAS GOD

A dark hooded stranger appeared in the cave near the Ark of the Covenant, the rainbow crystalis that housed the visitor from another world known as Mithrandir. The person walked in a circular fashion around the glowing orb, their face covered up to their mysterious eyes as they gazed upon the extra-terrestrial secret of the Senju clan. It was fascinating how the light oscillated different colors at a certain tempo, almost as though it was playing to the tune of a rhythm. At first, one would almost feel as though the light reflecting from the crystals was like the heartbeat of the energy source from within. However if you stood there long enough you realized that the tempo changed so rapidly and randomly that no particular purpose could be discerned. The entrance to the cave was about twenty meters above where the orb actually stood, and a wide staircase from above led to the flat ground upon which the orb rested. The staircase was similar to what one would see in political buildings, wherein as many as fifty people could walk down or up it at the same time due to the width. There was the sound of an enormous shift of stone, signaling that yet another person had entered the cave, and it was indeed the guard whose shift it was to watch the orb. One might ask why only one was there, but the carcasses of the other five lay nearby, having been slain by the strange visitor in a seamless fashion. The chief guard walked down the stairs slowly as he looked on to see the back of the hooded figure. He could not make out if it was male or female, but he knew it was an intruder once he looked beyond in the corner to see the dead bodies of his comrades. He pulled out a sword and approached slowly as he touched down onto the flat ground at the bottom of the staircase.

“Show yourself,” he hissed as he approached the stranger carefully from behind. The guard came within twenty meters of the stranger and for unknown reasons felt every muscle in his body go numb. It was then that he had noticed that the stranger had a flute in their hands and had been apparently playing some kind of silent tune that he had not heard when he’d entered into the building. Some kind of paralysis jutsu surely, he thought. Not a stranger to jutsu himself, he began to mold chakra in order to break the strange genjutsu he assumed had been put upon him, but to no avail. Suddenly, the stranger knelt on both knees before the orb, the guard now unable to utter noise. A glowing cube appeared out of the stranger’s robe, glistening and humming in a similar fashion to the crystalis itself. When this item was placed within five meters of the orb, however, things changed. The chrysalis, which regularly oscillated between different colors and various hummings, began to vibrate more and more and more. Soon, the colors began to flash violently in a display that could give one epilepsy if viewed directly by the eyes. The vibrations became intense to the point where other physical objects around were being touched. The bones inside of the man began to tremble as the orb showed signs of breaking. Crystals began to shatter and grow outward from the light they housed, and the cave around began to shake. The man began to foam at the mouth and lose consciousness as the display of colors invaded through his irises and into his central nervous system. The stranger arose just as the orb ceased from its violent shaking and into a state of motionless calm, wherein all crystals suddenly became white. There could be seen within the orb a high concentration of white light, and the making out of a distinctly bright figure in a fetal position for a single moment.... Then boom.

The orb obliterated from all sides, causing a ripple in the Senju crop fields to appear, and the earth caved in on itself where the cave had been hidden. Crops, trees, and even some small sheds on the property were swallowed up very suddenly, only to then be obliterated with a beaming ocean of light that went from beneath the earth (where things were sinking into) the very night sky.

AND HE WAS GOD

Far away, in the midst of the darkest jungle - he lay.

Mithrandir, naked and embalmed in radiant light from head to toe laid in the middle of a great swamp filled with the largest crocodiles the Senju mainland had to offer. This jungle was forbidden for hunting and largely forbidden to even enter. It was the northernmost part of the Land of Fire, and it was where the majority of dominant animals were driven in the days when the Senju migrated there. Most creatures could live in harmony with the Senju, but not all. Tigers, coyotes, bears, crocodiles, and enormous spiders could be found here prowling around looking for who would be their next meal. Mithrandir was now on the menu for the crawlers and the kings of the dark jungle. Four crocodiles surfaced quietly, making a circle around the strange being. It was obvious to their senses that he was not human, and thus they still debated with their sense as to whether or not he was food. His light had given him away, and now beasts of all kinds had come within a twenty meters radius to inspect the strange new visitor. The tigers sensed as the crocodiles did - this was not food. However without losing interest, they now suspected that they had found new competition for their daily meals; battle mode was activated.

Mithrandir awoke, if you would call it that, unsure of where or when he was, but knew that he was. He stood erect, slowly, from the swamp waters, and floated slightly above them, much to the confusion of the “hidden” crocodiles. He looked at his hands and lower body, gaining a sense of physical and mental sensitivity to his body once more. His eyes beamed out an ambient white color, much like the old gods, and his skin was like pure gold in the furnace of fire, radiant and of magnificent purity. He had a similar shape to a homo-sapien, but could in no wise be confused with one. A crocodile, taking the radiant heat of Mithrandir as a kind of threat, lunged out at him from two meters below to bite off his ankle and lower leg. The poor beast was eviscerated before it could make contact, Mithrandir’s armor reacting defensively by sending out a small ray of solar heat to disintegrate the croc, sensing it as a threat. Unsure of how to process, the animals around stood at post, but much less aggressively. A type of reverence abounded within them now, as they knew they were not dealing with a homo-sapien, capable of fear, greed, and cowardice. They were dealing with a god, with something more. Mithrandir took to higher ground, standing right next to a crouched tiger whose clenched teeth came to a relaxed state upon being gracefully touched by the illuminated deity that passed by. Mithrandir took one leap and bursted upwards into the cloudy sky, looking down upon all the region of the Senju. There were cries of dismay below at the now fifty-meter deep crater that had been left in the earth after his departure. It was so silent up high, where he floated. His mind was quiet, no longer processing but now taking in all that was. He looked around him in every direction, darkness.
He flew off West….
